The club's executive board met on January 31, 2009 at Bamboo Island Grille for its annual Planning and Installation Meeting.

Leihua Basso led the meeting, backed by officers/members/advisors Rebecca Gaerlan, Bob Miller, Kawika Caldwell, Jean Carpenter, Rose Sylva, Manny Sylva, Greg Kurahashi, Roxanne Martin, Terry Crnich, Joe Crnich, and Francis Doo.

Leihua talked about doing without regard to receiving in this tough economic time.

Roxanne has a line on a new restaurant in Beaverton - hers! Recently opened, it's located at Cedar Hills and Walker - the old Satoʼs, across from Dollar Tree, and it's called Roxy Island Grill.

Those in attendance agreed that the Riverwalk would be a good event for 2009. This event might also replace the June meeting.

General meetings have been set for the year at Sunset Fire Hall on: Feb 15, Apr 19, Jun 21, Aug 16, Oct 18, and Dec 6.

Everyone decided that a Makahiki Games type of event would go well with a bazaar. Tentative date for the Makahiki-Bazaar: September 19.

Those assembled also discussed having another Easter Egg hunt, but also including an Easter Egg hunt for adults. The club will seek to get donations of restaurant gift certificates for the adult portion of this event. Tentative date for Easter Egg Hunt: April 19.

The board is also going to look into getting club bumper stickers.

This year's Club Campout will be at Cape Lookout. Despite a long club history, it was noted that since the onset of the war Camp Rilea has become too difficult to obtain.

Terry noted that the holiday party is set for December 6.

Terry noted that the club now has olelo DVDs, which we will be showing them starting Friday, February 6th at Joeʼs and Terryʼs house.

Francis will be teaching Hawaiian ukulele at Bamboo Grille, starting on February 21, from 1 PM to 3 PM. Classes start with 3-chord songs, and will be $5/class. Heʼs also teaching hula at Gladstone Community Enrichment Center, at 2 PM to 4 PM, on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Sunday, already started, $10/lesson. Francis can be reached at: 503-888-8134.
